NDC Could Be Behind Afenyo-Markin’s Hacked Facebook Account — Miracles

Spokesperson for NPP flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has alleged that members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) could be connected to the reported hacking of Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s Facebook account.

He also expressed suspicion about the possible involvement of Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George or individuals associated with him, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.

His remarks come in response to Sam George’s call on Afenyo-Markin to formally report the alleged account compromise to the relevant authorities to facilitate an official investigation.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on June 6, Miracles Aboagye argued that the Minority Leader should not be required to lodge a complaint with authorities he does not trust.

According to him, the fact that Afenyo-Markin was able to regain control of his account should be enough to indicate that it had been compromised. He questioned why a formal complaint was being demanded as proof of the alleged breach.

Aboagye further claimed that it was possible those calling for an investigation could themselves be linked to the incident. He stated that he personally suspects the NDC may have been involved in the alleged hacking and suggested that Sam George or individuals connected to him could be responsible, though he offered no evidence to substantiate the allegation.

The controversy stems from a now-deleted Facebook post that appeared on Afenyo-Markin’s account and criticised the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025. The post quickly generated public debate before the Minority Leader disowned it, describing it as fake and claiming his account had been compromised.

The incident has since fueled broader discussions about cybersecurity, political communication, and the credibility of social media posts attributed to public officials, with calls from some quarters for an independent investigation to establish the facts surrounding the matter.
