Claims of Internal Conflict at Ghana Gas Are False — Management
The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging a rift between its Chief Executive Officer, Judith Adjobah Blay, and the company’s Board of Directors.
In a statement issued on June 6, management described the claims as false and intended to create unnecessary division within the organisation. The company stressed that there is no conflict between the Board, chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi, and the executive leadership.
According to Ghana Gas, both management and the Board continue to work closely together in a professional environment built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the company’s objectives.
The company said allegations of internal discord are unfounded and part of attempts by unidentified individuals to generate controversy and weaken public confidence in its leadership. It maintained that its governance structures remain intact and focused on fulfilling the organisation’s mandate in Ghana’s energy sector.
Addressing concerns over recent staff promotions, management clarified that the exercise involved 50 employees and was part of a structured programme designed to address delayed career advancement, organisational realignment and staff development.
The statement explained that the promotions followed extensive internal consultations and were undertaken with the knowledge and support of the Board of Directors. Ghana Gas therefore rejected suggestions that the exercise was irregular or had caused friction within the company.
The company also highlighted recent operational gains, revealing that gas production throughput has increased from an average of approximately 100 million standard cubic feet per day to about 120 million standard cubic feet per day.
According to management, the increase has enhanced fuel supply to downstream consumers, strengthened national energy security and contributed to greater stability in Ghana’s power sector. The company added that the improvement has also helped ease fuel costs for power producers and industrial users.
Reaffirming its commitment to good corporate governance, Ghana Gas stated that both the Board and management remain united in pursuing transparency, accountability and operational excellence. The company said it will continue working collaboratively to achieve its strategic goals and support Ghana’s broader energy development agenda.
