If Your Account Was Compromised, Report It — Sam George Tells Afenyo-Markin
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has called on Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to formally report the alleged compromise of his Facebook account to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
The challenge follows a controversial post published on the Minority Leader’s verified Facebook page on June 2, which questioned the passage of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025.
The post generated significant public and political debate due to the sensitivity of the legislation, prompting questions over whether it was genuinely authored by Afenyo-Markin or posted by unauthorized individuals who may have gained access to his account.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s *The Big Issue* on June 6, Sam George stated that the Cyber Security Authority stands ready to investigate the matter if a formal complaint is lodged.
According to the minister, an official investigation would be capable of determining whether the account was indeed compromised or whether the post originated from the account holder.
He encouraged the Minority Leader to submit a formal petition to the Cyber Security Authority, stressing that investigators would be able to trace the source of any unauthorized access and ensure those responsible face legal consequences.
Sam George maintained that if Afenyo-Markin genuinely believes his account was hacked, there should be no hesitation in filing a complaint to facilitate a thorough inquiry.
The minister added that the outcome of such an investigation would help establish the facts surrounding the controversial post and address the public concerns that have arisen since its publication.
