NDC Warns Against Premature Declarations Ahead of Internal Elections
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has cautioned party members not to announce their intention to contest in upcoming internal elections before official timelines, warning that violators risk disqualification.
In a statement, the party’s Deputy General Secretary in charge of Operations, Mustapha Gbande, explained that guidelines governing the internal electoral process have been approved, alongside a timetable covering elections from branch to national level.
He noted that the party recently completed a limited registration exercise for new members, followed by dues payment to validate membership and determine eligibility for contesting positions.
According to him, any aspirant who declares interest outside the stipulated timelines would be acting contrary to party rules, which could serve as grounds for disqualification if evidence is established.
Mr. Gbande stressed that the party is committed to ensuring a fair and orderly internal election process while maintaining stability within its ranks. He therefore urged members to refrain from premature campaign activities and strictly adhere to the approved guidelines.
