“Build Bridges to the Future, Not the Past” — Afoko Rallies NPP Ahead of 2028

Former NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put aside past grievances and focus on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during consultative meetings with regional executives, councils of elders, and party patrons in the Western North, Ahafo, Bono, and Bono East regions, Afoko emphasized the need for unity, grassroots mobilization, and forward-looking leadership.

“We must build bridges to the future, not the past,” he told party faithful, urging members to avoid reopening old wounds and instead concentrate on restoring the party's electoral fortunes.

According to Afoko, many young party members are more interested in seeing the NPP return to power than revisiting internal disputes from previous years.

The former chairman promoted his “3R Agenda” Reuniting, Rebuilding, and Recapturing Power as the roadmap for strengthening the party and preparing for the next election cycle.

Afoko also noted that although he had largely supported the party from behind the scenes in recent years, current circumstances compelled him to take a more active role in helping the NPP regain its footing.

He expressed confidence that party members would rally together to support the goal of making Mahamudu Bawumia the next President of Ghana.

“The future will not wait for us to finish fighting the past. Let’s build the bridges now,” Afoko stated.

His Western North tour forms part of a nationwide outreach campaign aimed at reconnecting with grassroots supporters and repositioning the NPP around development, inclusion, and electoral success in 2028.
