NPP Losing Floating Voters Because of Abronye’s Utterances — George Opoku Amponsah
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Communication Team, George Opoku Amponsah, has expressed concern over the impact of controversial comments by Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, on the party’s public image.
According to him, the continued inflammatory utterances by Abronye are gradually driving away floating voters and damaging the party’s chances ahead of future elections.
“Enough is enough. We (NPP) are losing a lot of floating voters in Ghana because of the utterances of Abronye. Someone must be bold enough to call him to order,” he reportedly stated.
His comments come amid growing internal concerns within sections of the NPP over public statements and media appearances by some party communicators and executives.
Political observers believe the debate reflects wider tensions within the party as it attempts to rebuild public confidence following the 2024 general elections.
Abronye DC, known for his outspoken political commentary, has frequently sparked controversy with remarks directed at political opponents, state institutions, religious leaders, and even members within his own party.
Some party faithful have defended his style as bold and fearless, while others argue that such comments risk alienating moderate supporters and undecided voters.
The issue of floating voters remains critical in Ghanaian politics, with analysts often describing the bloc as decisive in tightly contested elections
