Petrol, LPG Prices Rise From Today as Diesel Records Marginal Drop
Fuel prices have taken a mixed direction from June 1, 2026, with motorists and consumers expected to pay more for petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), while diesel users receive modest relief.
According to the latest projections by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, petrol prices are expected to increase by 6.2 percent, while LPG prices will rise by 2.24 percent. The adjustments have largely been attributed to increases in international petroleum product prices.
Diesel, however, is projected to decline by about 2 percent due to easing conditions on the global market and interventions within the petroleum sector.
Based on guidance from the National Petroleum Authority, the new minimum prices are set at GH¢15.20 per litre for petrol, GH¢15.49 per litre for diesel, and GH¢13.48 per kilogram for LPG.
The latest fuel price adjustments come ahead of a planned 20 percent increase in public transport fares announced by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union and the Commercial Transport Operators of Ghana, which is expected to take effect on June 2.
Analysts say the increase in petrol and LPG prices could place additional pressure on transportation and household expenses, potentially contributing to higher inflation and increased cost-of-living concerns in the weeks ahead.
