As Regional Security Head, I Only Observed Ayawaso East Primary – Linda Ocloo

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has dismissed claims that she campaigned for any candidate during Saturday’s parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East constituency, insisting her presence was purely official.

In a statement issued on Sunday, February 8, 2026, the minister responded to a video circulating on social media which she said had been deliberately taken out of context to create a false impression.

According to Ocloo, the footage originated from an interview she granted during the Ablekuma North elections and was selectively edited to misrepresent her comments and actions.

She explained that her visit to the Ayawaso East election grounds was in her capacity as Head of Regional Security, with the sole purpose of observing proceedings, assessing the security situation, and ensuring peace and law and order.

The minister noted that she attended the exercise dressed in funeral attire and clarified that she had not visited the constituency after the burial and prayer service of the late Member of Parliament until election day.

Ocloo further denied allegations that she distributed ice chests or any items to a former constituency chairman who was contesting in the election, describing the claims as false, malicious, and misleading.

She condemned the deliberate spread of distorted content and urged the public and media practitioners to rely on accurate, verified, and complete information.

Reaffirming her commitment to transparency and responsible leadership, the minister warned that continued attempts to misinform the public would be treated with the seriousness they deserve.
