NPP Welcomes Asiedu Nketia If He Chooses to Join—Justin Kodua Declares During Membership Update

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, says the party is open to welcoming new members from all political backgrounds including National Democratic Congress Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia should he ever decide to defect.

Mr. Kodua made the remarks while providing an update on the NPP’s ongoing nationwide membership registration exercise. Speaking to the media, he noted that many Ghanaians are joining the party because they believe in its vision and leadership.

According to him, political affiliation should not be seen as permanent, and individuals who believe another party offers better direction should feel free to make a transition.

“Even if the NDC Chairman, Asiedu Nketia, wants to join the NPP having seen the light and become disappointed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government he is welcome,” Kodua said.

He explained that the NPP remains a broad-based political organisation that accommodates people who are committed to national development and democratic governance.

Mr. Kodua further urged Ghanaians to take part in the membership registration exercise, emphasising that the party is modernising its systems to strengthen internal structures and improve accessibility for supporters at all levels.

The statement has attracted public attention, particularly due to the long-standing rivalry between the two major political parties and the prominence of Asiedu Nketia in national politics.
