Engineers and Planners Officially Takes Over Damang Mine
The Damang Mine, previously operated by Gold Fields Ghana Limited, has officially been handed over to Engineers and Planners after the firm secured the concession.
The symbolic transfer was carried out on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the mine site by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.
Speaking after the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, reflected on his three-decade connection with the mine and pledged significant investments to support nearby communities.
He described the takeover as an opportunity to demonstrate local capacity in managing major mining operations, while outlining plans for key infrastructure projects. These include constructing a concrete road linking Damang to Cape Coast within two years, as well as developing an airport in the area within six months.
According to him, the proposed projects are aimed at boosting economic growth and showcasing the ability of Ghanaian-owned companies to successfully run large-scale mining ventures
