Ibrahim Mahama Promises Airport for Damang Within Six Months
Business magnate and Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, has pledged major infrastructure investments for communities surrounding the Damang Mine following his company’s takeover of operations.
His remarks came after the official handover of the mine to Engineers and Planners for production. He indicated that the company is considering proposals from residents, including the construction of astroturf pitches for local communities.
Mr. Mahama also announced plans to enhance transportation infrastructure, revealing that steps have been taken to secure an airport for Damang. According to him, the facility could be completed within six months to enable easier travel to Accra.
He further outlined plans for a major road project, stating that within two years it should be possible to travel by road from the mining area to Cape Coast using a concrete or improved natural road.
Mr. Mahama emphasised that the commitments were practical development plans aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting economic activity in the area.
