NDC Remains Committed to Ashanti Region Development Agenda – Johnson Asiedu Nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has assured residents of the Ashanti Region that the party remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises following its victory in the 2024 general election.

Speaking at Nsuta Kwamang Beposo during the first day of his Ashanti Regional “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia said the visit was not only to express appreciation to supporters but also to begin a process of accountability by tracking the party’s performance against its commitments to the people.

He acknowledged that the government inherited significant challenges upon assuming office but noted that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama had already begun implementing measures to stabilise the economy and improve living conditions across the country.

According to him, ongoing initiatives in sectors such as education and water supply represent early signs of progress, adding that some of these interventions are being recognised even by supporters of the opposition.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia also highlighted the broad-based support the NDC received during the elections, stating that many Ghanaians across political divides rallied behind the party out of concern for the country’s direction and the need for change.

He further called for unity within the party and cautioned against internal disputes over positions, stressing the importance of maintaining experienced party officers who contributed to the success of the 2024 campaign.

He warned that unnecessary internal restructuring could weaken the party’s preparedness for future electoral contests, particularly ahead of the 2028 general elections. At the same time, he encouraged the removal of non-performing officials and urged sustained grassroots mobilisation and engagement with communities across the region.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia expressed appreciation to chiefs, clergy, party branches, assembly members, and financial supporters for their contributions to the party’s electoral victory, reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to inclusive governance and continued development across the Ashanti Region
