Dormaa Central MCE Completes Abandoned Projects, Expands Development Agenda — Masem District Watch
The Municipal Chief Executive for Dormaa Central Municipal, Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, says his administration has undertaken major developmental projects across the municipality, including the completion of key infrastructure projects initiated under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
According to the MCE, projects such as the Dormaa Daily Market and the Aduanakrom Event Centre, which were started during the tenure of former MCE Gordon Nana Asubonteng but remained abandoned during the eight-year administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have now seen significant progress and completion under his leadership.
“These projects have seen major transformation under my leadership and I am optimistic they will serve the best interest of the people of Dormaa and even beyond,” he stated.
Mr Ameyaw made the remarks during an interaction with Masem TV reporter Nana Ama Asiedu when the Masem District Watch Team visited his office to assess his achievements since assuming office.
Speaking on infrastructure development, the MCE disclosed that the Assembly has rehabilitated and reshaped more than 35 kilometres of roads across the municipality to improve transportation and reduce travel time.
He mentioned ongoing and completed road projects including the Kyeremasu–Amasu–Gambia II highway and the Benekrom–Badukrom road.
On security and road safety, he indicated that traffic lights and pedestrian walkways have been installed and completed in Dormaa-Ahenkro to improve public safety and traffic management.
Addressing water and sanitation, the MCE stated that the municipality has installed 10 mechanised boreholes and 13 hand-pump boreholes to improve access to clean drinking water in various communities.
He also revealed that the Assembly has established a waste recycling site aimed at improving waste segregation and recycling efforts within the municipality.
Mr Ameyaw further highlighted market infrastructure projects undertaken by the Assembly, including the construction of 48 lockable stores at A.B.B., 44 stores with modern aqua privy toilet facilities at Fima Dwaben, and 10 stores at Kuren.
In the education sector, he said the Assembly partnered with Dormaa Central MP John Adu Jak to construct classroom blocks at Ahoguno JHS and provide laboratory and sanitation facilities for selected primary schools.
Touching on agriculture and the poultry industry, which remains the dominant economic activity in the municipality, the MCE noted that government interventions have helped resolve longstanding challenges between local egg dealers and authorities in Burkina Faso.
According to him, the resolution now allows traders from Burkina Faso to travel directly to Ghana to purchase eggs, helping to reduce tensions and improve trade relations.
He also disclosed plans for the establishment of an Egg Powder Processing Company and a Starch Manufacturing Company in the municipality through support from Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II.
Additionally, thousands of coconut seedlings have reportedly been distributed to farmers, while several agricultural initiatives have been implemented under the Presidential Initiative programme.
The MCE also stated that his administration inherited major infrastructural challenges, including a dilapidated official residence and an old Assembly block, but said renovation works on both facilities are now about 90 percent complete.
He expressed confidence that the Assembly will continue to pursue development projects that improve livelihoods and promote economic growth within the municipality.
