All power units restored after Akosombo substation fire – Jinapor

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has confirmed that all power generation units have been fully restored following a major disruption that affected electricity supply in parts of Ghana.

In a Facebook post on Friday, May 1, he stated that the national power system has now been stabilised after intensive efforts by engineers and emergency response teams.

Dr. Jinapor credited the successful restoration to the dedication of technical personnel who worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to bring operations back to normal. He described their efforts as a strong display of professionalism, discipline, and patriotism.

He also praised the leadership and staff of key state power agencies, including the Ghana Grid Company Limited, Volta River Authority, and Electricity Company of Ghana, for their coordinated and swift response to the crisis.

According to him, the collaboration among these institutions was crucial in restoring stability to the energy sector.

He added that the successful recovery highlights the country’s ability to rely on the expertise and resilience of its workforce during challenging times, and concluded by offering prayers for engineers, the energy sector, and the nation.
