“I Will Step Forward to Combat Sabotage in Energy Sector” – Engr. Yaw Ansah Declares
Tano North Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Engr. Yaw Ansah, has expressed his readiness to take a leading role in addressing what he describes as persistent sabotage within Ghana’s energy sector.
According to him, his over two decades of experience in the field have revealed that the country’s ongoing power instability is not solely due to technical challenges, but also deliberate acts that undermine progress. He cited issues such as fuel supply delays, procurement bottlenecks, vandalism, poor coordination among state agencies, and the protection of incompetence as key factors worsening the situation.
Engr. Ansah emphasized that Ghana’s ambition to build a resilient economy, including the government’s proposed 24-hour economy, cannot be realized without stable and reliable electricity. He noted that industries, healthcare facilities, schools, and households continue to suffer from inconsistent power supply, which threatens both economic growth and public confidence.
“As both a professional engineer and a committed party executive, I am presenting myself to help deal with this challenge,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview on Masem TV, Engr. Ansah highlighted the gap between technical expertise and political decision-making as a major contributor to the problem. He argued that sabotage thrives when political leaders lack technical understanding, and when engineers do not receive the necessary political backing to act decisively.
He pledged to bridge this divide, stressing that his combined experience in engineering and politics places him in a unique position to address the issue effectively.
“With over 25 years of technical experience, I know the system, I know the saboteurs, and I understand how to protect the President’s vision from being derailed on the ground. Give me the mandate, and I will help expose and end the sabotage,” he asserted.
Engr. Ansah’s comments come amid growing public concern over recurring power outages, with many Ghanaians calling for urgent and sustainable solutions to stabilize the country’s energy supply.
