Stephen Amoah expresses shock as Ken Agyapong falls short in Nhyiaeso during NPP flagbearer race

Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has voiced his surprise over Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s performance in the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primaries, saying the outcome did not match expectations on the ground.

According to Dr. Amoah, he had confidently anticipated a decisive victory for Mr. Agyapong in the constituency, largely due to the intense campaign efforts and strong presence of his team in the area.

“I honestly believed Kennedy would secure about 60 percent of the votes,” he remarked.

He explained that the level of mobilisation and visibility by the Agyapong campaign had created a strong impression that the constituency would swing in his favour, making the final results unexpected.

Contrary to those expectations, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the winner in Nhyiaeso.

The provisional breakdown of votes in the constituency showed:

  1. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia – 379
  2. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong – 321
  3. Dr. Bryan Acheampong – 91
  4. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum – 4
  5. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong – 0

With a total of 889 delegates participating in the exercise.
