Patrick Dorgu Facing Up to 10 Weeks Out After Hamstring Injury—Report
Manchester United have been dealt a major setback as emerging star Patrick Dorgu is reportedly facing up to 10 weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed a more serious injury than initially expected.
Dorgu, who scored for the second consecutive game in United’s dramatic 3–2 victory over Premier League leaders Arsenal, was forced off late in the match. Interim manager Michael Carrick downplayed the issue at the time, expressing hope that it was “a little bit of cramp” and “not too bad.”
However, The Athletic reports that the 21-year-old has suffered a significant hamstring injury, with early estimates suggesting an absence of around 10 weeks. If that timeline holds, Dorgu may not return until early April.
Such an absence would see him miss as many as eight key Premier League fixtures, along with Denmark’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualification play-off bracket in March.

Why Dorgu Matters to Manchester United
Signed from Lecce last January, Dorgu was initially viewed as a player tailored for Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system. But the switch back to a 4-2-3-1 under different coaches has revealed his attacking quality, especially when deployed as a left winger rather than a conventional full-back or wing-back.
Though he struggled when played at left back by Darren Fletcher in the FA Cup defeat to Brighton, Dorgu excelled on the wing—registering an assist against Burnley and scoring standout goals in United’s wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.
He now has a goal contribution in each of his last three Premier League matches, making him one of United’s most in-form players.
Carrick praised him after the Arsenal win, saying:
“Pat’s been a big player for us… his threat, athleticism, and quality have been immense down the side with Luke Shaw.”
A Tough Replacement Task for Carrick
With Dorgu unavailable, Manchester United face a dilemma on the left flank.
-
Bryan Mbeumo is more suited to the right than the left.
Amad Diallo also prefers the right.
Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount could play wide but lack natural width and tend to drift inside.
This leaves Carrick without a direct replacement who can mirror Dorgu’s pace, width, and attacking threat—qualities that have become central to United’s recent resurgence.
