MoMo operator and client shot dead in violent robbery at Fufulso Junction

A violent armed robbery at Fufulso Junction in the Savannah Region has resulted in the deaths of two people and left three others critically injured.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when suspected robbers targeted a mobile money vendor while he was serving a customer.

Reports indicate that the attackers fired gunshots during the robbery, fatally wounding both the MoMo operator and the customer who had come to make a transaction. The victims were taken to a hospital but died before arriving.

Three additional people who suffered gunshot injuries in the attack are currently receiving treatment at Buipe District Hospital, where medical officials say they remain in critical condition.

The incident has sparked unrest within the community. Later that night, a group of youth reportedly set several houses belonging to residents in Fufulso on fire.

Security forces have since been deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further disturbances. Officers are maintaining a strong presence around Fufulso Junction to protect lives and property.

Residents have also been urged to remain calm while authorities continue their investigations into the robbery and the subsequent acts of violence.
