Kofi Jumah hospitalised at Korle Bu ICU, yet to meet GH¢55m bail conditions

Former CEO of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has not yet met the conditions of a GH¢55 million bail granted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office, as he has reportedly been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

According to the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Yandoh, efforts are ongoing to meet the bail requirements, but progress has been delayed due to Mr. Jumah’s medical condition.

Speaking to Citi News on Monday, May 4, 2026, he indicated that Jumah required urgent medical care and is currently receiving treatment at the ICU, which has slowed the bail process.

Mr. Jumah was granted police enquiry bail on April 29 but has yet to satisfy the GH¢55 million conditions.

His arrest followed a raid on his residence in Kumasi as part of EOCO’s ongoing investigations into alleged breaches of public financial management regulations during his time at GIHOC.

Authorities have not yet disclosed full details of the allegations, and EOCO has not provided further updates on the case.
