Dormaahene Criticises IGP and Presidency Over Flag Protocol and Police Parade Practices
Dormaahene Agyemang Badu II has criticised the IGP and Presidency over the use of a non-national flag and selective police parade practices.
The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Agyemang Badu II, who also serves as President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has voiced strong concern over recent state protocol practices involving the Ghana Police Service and the Presidency.
He expressed disappointment at the decision to allow a non-national flag to be carried ahead of the President of the Republic instead of Ghana’s official national flag, describing the move as inappropriate and disrespectful to national symbols.
The traditional ruler also called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to immediately end what he termed the selective practice of inviting only one paramount chief to inspect police parades.
According to him, Ghana operates as a constitutional republic rather than a monarchy, and therefore state institutions must uphold neutrality, fairness, and inclusiveness in their engagements.
He stressed that no individual traditional authority should be given preferential treatment in national security activities.
The Dormaahene made these remarks during a visit by the Minister for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, in Sunyani.
