Prosecution Witness Says GH¢7.2m Was Deposited Into NSB Director’s Account

The third prosecution witness in the ongoing trial involving former National Signals Bureau boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene has told an Accra High Court that a GH¢7.2 million transaction reflected in bank records was paid into the account of the Director of the National Signals Bureau rather than the institution’s main account.

The witness, Mildred Donkor, made the statement during cross-examination on Thursday, May 14.

During proceedings, defence lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea questioned the witness about bank statements submitted by the defence and attempted to determine whether the money had been transferred into the NSB’s official account or the Director’s personal account designation.

However, Madam Donkor maintained that the funds were deposited into the account belonging to the Director of the National Signals Bureau, reiterating an earlier statement she had made before the court.

The hearing was characterised by intense exchanges over financial transfers, exchange rates, and questions surrounding transaction approvals.

Lawyers representing the accused frequently clashed with the Deputy Attorney General over objections raised during the proceedings.

Despite several objections from the prosecution, the court permitted the witness to respond to most of the questions posed by the defence after overruling many of the objections.

At one stage, the presiding judge, Justice Achibonga, expressed frustration with attempts by the defence team to focus extensively on exchange rate issues connected to the transactions.

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, together with his wife Angela Boateng and Advantage Solutions Limited, is facing trial over allegations involving the misappropriation of GH¢49 million meant for the procurement of government cybersecurity software.

According to the prosecution, the money was allegedly transferred through several companies before eventually ending up in Advantage Solutions Limited, after which it was reportedly used to purchase properties in Accra, Kumasi, and London.

The court has adjourned the case to Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for the continuation of the cross-examination of the third prosecution witness.
