Cocoa farmers snub Minority Caucus in Jaman South

On Saturday 11th April,2026, the Minority Caucus, led by the Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and the MP for Jaman South, Col.Kwadwo Damoah visited Jaman South Constituency to meet with Cocoa Farmers at Miremano to incite the farmers against government on the recent cocoa pricing issue but the unfortunate happened.

The much awaited programme which dominated the media landscape for the past two(2) weeks turned out to be a fiasco as cocoa farmers in Miremaano and its environs overwhelmingly declined to participate in the said meeting.

This decision reflects their growing awareness and independent assessment of developments within the cocoa sector globally .

Jaman South, being a border municipality with Côte d’Ivoire, places its farmers in a unique position. These farmers are well-informed about cocoa pricing trends both in Ghana and across the border.Whilst

the producer price for a 64-kilogram bag of cocoa in Ghana is GH¢2,587.00 , that of Cote d'ivoire is ₵1,225.00.

Based on prevailing conditions and their own experiences, the farmers have come to appreciate the efforts and interventions of the NDC government in the cocoa sector. Consequently, they saw no justification in abandoning their productive activities to engage in what they perceived as a politically motivated exercise.

The decision by the Miremaano cocoa farmers sends a strong signal that Ghanaians, particularly those directly affected by sectoral policies, are discerning and will not be easily swayed by partisan narratives that do not reflect their lived realities.
