Cabinet approves e-Visa policy to boost tourism and investment
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Cabinet has given approval for Ghana’s new e-Visa policy aimed at modernising travel processes and promoting tourism and business investment.
In a post on X, he explained that the e-Visa system will be available to travellers visiting Ghana for tourism and business purposes.
He noted that the initiative is intended to make Ghana a more attractive and welcoming destination, particularly for individuals who may face travel restrictions elsewhere.
Mr. Ablakwa also referred to remarks by President John Dramani Mahama during his inauguration that Ghana is “open for business again,” stating that the new policy supports that vision.
He added that through innovative policies, Ghana is enhancing its image as a peaceful, stable, and hospitable country while using technology to simplify and speed up travel procedures.
The Minister further indicated that the e-Visa system will incorporate strong security screening measures to safeguard national security while improving efficiency.
According to him, the policy forms part of a broader effort to “reset” Ghana’s governance and development agenda across multiple sectors.
