Bawumia Not Evacuated from Qatar, Trip to Saudi Arabia Routine – Miracles Aboagye
Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a senior aide to former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has dismissed claims that Dr. Bawumia was evacuated from Qatar amid Middle East tensions, calling them “complete misinformation.”
He clarified that the former Vice President’s travel followed standard diplomatic arrangements and was not an emergency. Earlier reports had suggested Bawumia was moved to Saudi Arabia due to the conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, but Miracles firmly denied this narrative.
“Evacuation implies he was under threat or in danger, which is false,” he told Citi News on March 4. Miracles explained that Dr. Bawumia was performing Umrah in Mecca, transiting through Doha, Qatar. Despite Qatar temporarily closing its airspace, Saudi Arabia’s airspace remained open.
He added that Ghana’s embassy in Qatar assisted with the onward journey, consistent with normal diplomatic support. Dr. Bawumia traveled by road from Qatar to Saudi Arabia and is currently in the Kingdom for his Umrah pilgrimage.
