Ayawaso East by-election: Global InfoAnalytics poll gives NDC’s Baba Jamal commanding 75% lead
A recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics predicts a decisive victory for National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Baba Jamal in the Ayawaso East by-election scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The poll, carried out between February 28 and March 1, sampled 972 voters within the constituency and shows Baba Jamal holding a clear lead over his main opponent, Baba Ali of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Results indicate Baba Jamal is projected to secure 75% of the vote, while Baba Ali is expected to receive 21%, placing the NDC candidate in a strong position ahead of polling day.
Independent candidate Umaru Sanda Muhammed, who recently broke away from the ruling NDC, is forecast to obtain about 3% of the votes.
Meanwhile, the remaining contenders, Ibrahim Iddrisu and David, are each predicted to receive less than 1%, according to the survey.
The by-election became necessary following the death of the area’s Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, in January while undergoing treatment at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
