Two delegates arrested for secretly recording ballots during NPP primary — Police

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two delegates for allegedly using body cameras to record their votes during the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.

The incident occurred in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency, according to the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, who spoke to the media on Saturday, January 31.

DCOP Nyaaba said the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations are underway, describing the act as a breach of electoral regulations and a threat to the credibility of the voting process.

He warned delegates to refrain from bringing recording devices into polling centres, stressing that such behaviour would attract arrest and prosecution.

“When we arrived at the polling stations, we discovered some delegates wearing body cameras to film their ballots, and they were immediately taken into custody,” he explained.

He added that anyone found attempting to record voting activities would face the full rigours of the law.
