NDC Conducts Ayawaso East Parliamentary Primary Today

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is today, Saturday, February 7, holding its parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency to choose a candidate for the forthcoming by-election.

The exercise comes after a smooth vetting process that approved all five aspirants who picked nomination forms to contest the seat. The vetting was held at the party’s Greater Accra Regional Office.

Following the vetting, the aspirants drew lots to determine their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the primary.

The candidates cleared to contest, based on the balloting order, are Mohammed Ramme, the NDC Constituency Chairman; Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament; Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria; Yakubu Azindow; and Najib Mohammed.

Addressing the media after the vetting exercise, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, commended the aspirants for their discipline and cooperation throughout the process.

He noted that the party has urged all contenders to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful and responsible manner to help ensure a smooth and successful primary.
