Mahama Orders SOE Heads to Submit Audited Reports by April 2026

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed all Chief Executive Officers of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to submit their audited financial statements and annual reports by the end of April 2026, cautioning that failure to comply will lead to serious consequences.

The President announced the directive while engaging with members of the Ghanaian community in Zambia on Wednesday, February 4.

He expressed concern that many state institutions have failed to meet their legal reporting obligations for several years, a situation he said has weakened transparency and accountability within the public sector.

“Some state-owned enterprises have gone seven or eight years without producing annual reports, despite the fact that it is a statutory requirement,” President Mahama stated.

Describing the practice as unacceptable, he stressed that his administration is determined to enforce strict compliance going forward.

“I have made it clear that by the end of April — the set deadline — any chief executive who has not completed their audits and submitted their annual reports will face consequences,” he warned.

Although the President did not outline specific penalties, his comments indicated a firm stance against persistent default by heads of state institutions.

“I won’t go into details about what will happen, but this must change,” he added.
