Ghana Police Service Arrest Three for Narcotics, Reject GH¢420K Bribe in Accra
Police in Accra have arrested three suspects for alleged drug trafficking and rejected a GH¢420,000 bribe offered during the operation.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals for alleged possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs within the Accra metropolis.
Police said intelligence received by the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police on April 10, 2026, indicated that a group planned to sell suspected narcotics at Dzorwulu. Officers mounted surveillance and on April 11 arrested two suspects identified as Bright Ayivor and Ifeanyi Ijeoba.
The suspects were reportedly found with 22 compressed substances believed to be cocaine, which were allegedly being prepared for sale. Further interrogation led to the identification of a third suspect, Kwabena Botwe, described by police as a key figure in the operation.
A follow-up operation at Caprice resulted in his arrest during a planned transaction. The suspect later led officers to his residence at Greda Estates, where a search uncovered GH¢400,000 and a money-counting machine.
Police said the suspect attempted to bribe the arresting officers with an additional GH¢420,000, which was rejected and retained as evidence.
All three suspects remain in custody assisting investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court.
