SONA 2026: Over One Million Ghanaians Secured Jobs in First Half of 2025 – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that more than one million Ghanaians secured employment during the first two quarters of 2025, describing the milestone as evidence of a recovering economy.

Speaking during the 2026 State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Friday, February 27, he said the gains reflect the impact of targeted government interventions designed to stimulate job creation across critical sectors.

According to the President, initiatives in agriculture, infrastructure development, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and expansion of the digital economy have played a major role in boosting employment nationwide.

“Over one million Ghanaians gained employment within the first two quarters of 2025,” he stated.

“These numbers demonstrate that our policies are beginning to yield tangible benefits for households and young people across the country.”

He noted that despite the progress, the government remains focused on expanding opportunities—particularly for the youth—through sustained investment, skills development and partnerships with the private sector.

The President emphasised that job creation will remain a central pillar of his administration’s economic agenda as it works to consolidate growth and improve living standards across the country.
