New Patriotic Party Schedules National Executive Elections for September 18–20, 2026
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set September 18–20, 2026, for its national executive elections, outlining nomination, vetting, and appeal timelines while extending the tenure of some party officials to ensure a smooth process.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its national executive elections will take place from September 18 to 20, 2026, as part of its broader internal electoral calendar.
The timeline was unveiled on Wednesday, February 18, during a press briefing addressed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
According to him, the electoral process will begin with the opening and closing of nominations between August 10 and 14, 2026. Filing of nominations is slated for August 15 to 17, followed by the vetting of aspirants from August 20 to 23.
The vetting report will be presented on August 25, while appeals will be considered from August 28 to 29. The main elections are then scheduled to be conducted between September 18 and 20, 2026.
Mr. Kodua Frimpong further indicated that the tenure of some party officials is expected to expire during the election period. To prevent any disruption to the process, their mandates have been extended.
The extension applies to polling station executives, constituency executives, branch executives, electoral area coordinators, and regional executives. He explained that the decision is intended to guarantee a smooth and orderly internal electoral exercise and to avoid complications that could undermine the process.
