NAIMOS Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Mining Along River Tano

Operatives of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) have conducted a major operation targeting illegal mining activities along the River Tano.

The exercise took place on April 4 between 0900 and 1530 hours, with the taskforce stationed at Enchi in the Western North Region. The affected stretch covered communities from Patoso to Adiembra within the Aowin District.

The operation led to the seizure and destruction of several items used in illegal mining, including pumping machines, changfang machines, tricycles, and motorbikes. The taskforce confiscated six pumping machines and an excavator oil pump, while dismantling multiple illegal mining structures at the sites.

NAIMOS indicated that intensified operations have resumed in the Western North corridor, with taskforces positioned at Enchi and Dadieso to clear illegal mining activities along both the River Tano and Bia River, which have been heavily polluted by galamsey operations.
