IGP urges government to supply more barricades to boost election security

Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has called on the government to equip the Ghana Police Service with additional barricades to enhance security operations during elections across the country.

Speaking to Citi News at the YMCA polling station in the Korle Klottey Constituency, where he was overseeing security during the New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary, the IGP highlighted the importance of proper barricading in maintaining law and order.

According to him, barricades make crowd control easier and help security personnel effectively protect voters and officials at polling centres.

He noted that increasing the availability of such equipment would significantly improve the police’s ability to manage large gatherings and prevent disturbances.

Mr. Yohuno also commended the security arrangements at the polling stations and appealed to delegates to work closely with the police to ensure a calm, safe and orderly voting process.
