GTEC to Verify Certificates of Ministry of Education Job Applicants

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed prospective applicants seeking employment in agencies under the Ministry of Education Ghana to submit their academic credentials for verification as part of the recruitment process.

The directive follows clearance granted for recruitment within the Ministry’s agencies, prompting the Commission to emphasise strict validation of qualifications before appointments are made.

In a statement issued on April 9, GTEC urged applicants to present their tertiary-level certificates—including diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and PhDs—for evaluation to confirm their authenticity.

According to the Commission, the measure is intended to address growing concerns about the use of fraudulent certificates and qualifications obtained from unaccredited or unrecognised institutions.

GTEC, established under the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020 (Act 1023), is mandated to accredit public and private tertiary institutions and their programmes, as well as verify academic credentials.

The Commission stressed that the verification exercise will be a critical component of the recruitment process, ensuring that only qualified individuals are considered for employment in the education sector.

It further urged all prospective applicants to comply promptly as authorities work to safeguard the integrity and standards of Ghana’s education system.
