Ghana condemns drone incident near Dubai airport that injured two citizens
The government of Ghana has condemned a drone-related incident that occurred near Dubai International Airport on Tuesday, March 11, 2026, which left two Ghanaian nationals injured.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, officials said they were informed by authorities in the United Arab Emirates about the incident that took place close to the airport earlier in the day.
According to the ministry, the two injured Ghanaians are currently receiving medical treatment and their conditions are not life-threatening. Authorities expect both individuals to recover fully.
The government strongly condemned any actions that threaten civilian lives or critical infrastructure, emphasising that such incidents pose serious risks to public safety, particularly around major international transportation hubs like airports.
Following the incident, Ghana’s ambassador to the UAE led a delegation from the Ghanaian embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai to visit the injured nationals in hospital. The delegation assured them of the government’s support and commitment to their welfare.
The ministry also urged calm among the Ghanaian community in the region, stating that consular assistance is being provided while authorities continue to work with UAE officials to monitor the situation.
Additionally, the government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the safety of its citizens abroad and noted that it is participating in ongoing consultations within the United Nations aimed at achieving a cessation of hostilities linked to broader security concerns that may have contributed to such incidents.
Ghanaian citizens living or working across the Gulf region have been advised to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by Ghanaian diplomatic missions and local authorities to ensure their safety.
