GFA Parts Ways with Black Stars Coach Otto Addo After Poor Run of Results

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially parted ways with Head Coach Otto Addo of the Ghana national football team with immediate effect, following a string of disappointing performances in recent international matches.

The decision comes after the Black Stars suffered defeats to the Austria national football team and the Germany national football team in friendly encounters, raising concerns about the team’s readiness ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

In a brief statement announcing the decision, the GFA expressed appreciation for Otto Addo’s service to Ghanaian football and wished him success in his future endeavours.

“ The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement said.

Otto Addo previously guided Ghana through key international assignments, including qualification and participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. His departure now signals a shift in the technical direction of the national team at a crucial stage of preparations for the next global competition.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside the England national football team, Panama national football team, and Croatia national football team, making early technical stability a priority for the Association.

The GFA says it will soon communicate the team’s new technical direction, including the appointment of a replacement head coach, as efforts intensify to rebuild confidence and improve performance ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
