OSP Seizes Fuel Stations, Luxury Homes and Cash in GH¢291m NPA Extortion Case
The OSP has seized fuel stations, luxury homes, cash, vehicles and land linked to the GH¢291m NPA extortion case involving former NPA CEO Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and nine others.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has seized a wide range of high-value properties and assets linked to the ongoing criminal prosecution of former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine others accused of extorting more than GH¢291 million from petroleum sector players.
Details of the seizures were contained in the OSP’s 2025 Half-Yearly Report, signed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng. The assets form part of exhibits in the high-profile case, The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others (CR/0603/2025), currently before the Criminal High Court in Accra.
According to the report, the OSP is now managing four fuel stations located at Opeikuma, Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, and Millennium City in Accra. Also under its control is a cash seizure of GH¢951,995.56.
Several parcels of land have also been seized, including:
- Land in Tamale valued at GH¢9.93 million
- Land in Haatso valued at GH¢2.737 million
- Land at Danyame, Kumasi valued at GH¢4.766 million
- Additional parcels at Adenta, pending valuation
The OSP is also managing multiple luxury residential properties in top-tier Accra neighbourhoods, including a two-storey East Legon home valued at GH¢12.7 million, as well as apartments in Airport Residential Area, Roman Ridge, Boundary Road, and Adjiringanor.
Other seized real estate includes:
- A six-unit residential block at Agbogba worth GH¢10 million
- Several uncompleted apartment projects in Airport City and Roman Ridge
In addition to real estate, the OSP has confiscated 23 fuel tanker trucks and a fleet of high-end vehicles valued at GH¢18.6 million in connection with its investigation into the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF). These include:
- A Rolls-Royce Mansory Phantom
- Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680
- Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800
- Toyota Land Cruiser LC300
- Lexus LX600
- Two Fiat bullion vans
The asset seizures follow charges filed against Dr. Abdul-Hamid and nine others—comprising former and current NPA officials and executives of three private companies—over an alleged conspiracy to extort GH¢291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47 from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies between December 2022 and December 2024.
The accused persons include:
Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, and Kwaku Aboagye Acquaah.
The companies named are Propnest Limited, KEL Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.
The case is still before the High Court as the OSP continues with extensive asset tracing, seizure operations, and prosecution.
