Haruna Iddrisu, Deputy Communications Minister Involved in Convoy Accident

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and Deputy Communications Minister Mohammed Adams Sukparu are reported to be in stable condition after their official convoy was involved in a road traffic accident on the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

Initial reports suggested the incident was serious. However, a statement from the Office of the Education Minister has confirmed that all members of the convoy are safe and receiving medical attention.

The ministers were travelling to the Upper West Region to participate in the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education when the accident occurred.

The statement, signed by Press Secretary Hashmin Mohammed, assured the public that:

“All members of the convoy are currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention.”

The Office also expressed gratitude to emergency responders, health professionals, and members of the public who assisted at the scene.

While details regarding the cause of the crash, the number of vehicles involved, and the full extent of injuries have not yet been disclosed, the Ghana News Agency reports that Minister Haruna Iddrisu is receiving treatment at the Tumu Government Hospital. It is further reported that his driver sustained a hand fracture.

It remains unclear whether the ministers will continue their journey or be transferred to another medical facility.

The Bolgatanga–Tumu road serves as a key corridor between the Upper East and Upper West Regions and is frequently used by government officials and commercial transport operators.
