Sam George launches 13-member committee to secure sustainable DTT platform
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has convened a high-level stakeholder meeting to determine the future sustainability of Ghana’s Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) platform.
The meeting, held in Accra on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, brought together major stakeholders in the broadcasting sector to deliberate on ensuring the long-term viability of the national digital broadcasting system. The Minister stressed that DTT remains the most widely accessible broadcasting platform in the country and is crucial to Ghana’s digital broadcasting agenda.
To address sustainability challenges, the Minister announced the formation of a 13-member committee chaired by the National Communications Authority. The committee has been tasked with developing a fair and transparent cost-sharing framework for the operation of the DTT platform.
The committee is expected to present a preliminary report within 30 days, after which stakeholders will reconvene to review the proposals. The Minister assured participants that the process would remain inclusive and that no final decisions would be made without further consultation.
Discussions at the meeting covered operational costs, service quality, network reliability, and efficient use of infrastructure.
The committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations; the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association; Ghana Broadcasting Corporation; National Media Commission; and KNet Ltd, among other stakeholders.
