South Korean President hopeful Mahama’s visit will bring concrete benefits to Ghana–Korea relations

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has expressed confidence that the official visit of Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama will lead to meaningful outcomes that benefit both countries.

Speaking during a summit in Seoul on Wednesday, March 11, President Lee said he expects the visit to generate practical cooperation that citizens of both nations can directly experience.

He noted that Ghana and South Korea have already achieved strong cooperation in several areas, including maritime security, trade, and agriculture. According to him, these achievements provide a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in the future.

President Mahama arrived in South Korea on Tuesday, March 11, for a four-day working visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.

During the trip, Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Lee and also meet the Speaker of South Korea’s National Assembly, Woo Won-shik. Discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as technology, climate action, and economic development.

As part of his itinerary, the Ghanaian president will also interact with Ghanaian students, professionals, and residents living in South Korea to hear their experiences and concerns while strengthening engagement between the government and the diaspora community.
