President Mahama Commissions Sahara LPG Carrier in South Korea to Boost West Africa’s Energy Security
President Mahama commissions the Sahara LPG vessel in South Korea, a modern carrier designed to strengthen LPG distribution and enhance energy security for Ghana and the West African region.
President John Dramani Mahama has officially commissioned the Sahara LPG vessel in the South Korea, describing the milestone as a major boost to Ghana’s energy security and the efficiency of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supply chain across West Africa.
The commissioning ceremony brought together key government representatives, industry players, and international partners, all gathered to witness the launch of the modern vessel designed to enhance the safe transport and distribution of LPG throughout the sub-region.
Speaking at the event on Thursday, March 12, President Mahama noted that the vessel will play a critical role in supporting consistent energy supply for countries that depend partly on LPG imports.
“Today’s ceremony highlights not only outstanding engineering but also the strength of partnerships,” he said. “This cutting-edge, dual-fuel, fully refrigerated LPG carrier symbolizes the shared commitment of all stakeholders to promoting safe, efficient, and sustainable energy distribution.”
