President Mahama Calls on World Leaders to End Middle East Conflict
President John Dramani Mahama has renewed his appeal for global action to resolve the escalating crisis in the Middle East, urging world leaders to choose dialogue and work toward lasting peace in the region.
Addressing congregants during Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at Black Star Square, he highlighted the urgent need to protect civilians and restore stability.
Mahama described peace in the Middle East as essential to global security, stressing that ongoing hostilities are destroying families and communities.
“Our thoughts are with all who continue to suffer as a result of the conflict in the Middle East. Innocent lives—including women and children—are being taken, families uprooted, and entire communities torn apart.
“On this sacred occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I invite everyone to pray for peace in the Middle East. May Allah touch the hearts of Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Mojtaba Khamenei so this war can come to an end,” he said.
Mahama also called for deeper international cooperation against violent extremism, cautioning that instability in any region can quickly spill over and affect global peace.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, used the occasion to urge government to intensify the fight against illegal mining.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an, he emphasized the need to protect the environment from destruction and corruption.
He further appealed for decisive action to curb the growing abuse of hard drugs, warning that the trend is devastating the lives of many young people, including those in the Muslim community.
“Our youth are being destroyed through drug business and addiction. We are losing them, and it is painful. Your Excellency, the Chief Imam says he is ready to work with you to address this crisis,” he said.
