President John Mahama Visits Burkina Faso Attack Survivors at 37 Military Hospital

President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, paid a visit to survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

The victims were part of a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling by truck when armed attackers ambushed them. Reports indicate that the assailants lined up the men, killed several of them, and set the vehicle on fire.

President Mahama, accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, sympathised with the survivors and assured them that the government would bear the full cost of their medical treatment.

The President had earlier travelled to Takoradi on official duty and proceeded directly to the hospital after arriving in Accra to receive first-hand updates on the tragedy.

Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have since been laid to rest. The survivors were airlifted back to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently receiving medical care and counselling.
