John Dramani Mahama Assents to 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill

President John Dramani Mahama has signed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill into law, clearing the path for the nationwide rollout of the government’s flagship economic transformation policy.

Parliament approved the bill on February 6 after several days of deliberations, following its submission to the House toward the end of 2025.

The new law establishes a 24-Hour Economy Authority, which will act as the central coordinating body responsible for overseeing implementation of the policy across the country.

The Authority is expected to work closely with government agencies, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of round-the-clock economic activities.

The 24-hour economy initiative aims to restructure Ghana’s economic framework by encouraging continuous production, service delivery, and business operations across key sectors.

President Mahama stated that signing the bill signals a transition from planning to execution, with a strong focus on expanding employment opportunities for citizens.
