IGP Yohuno Reassigns Senior Police Officers in Major Command Reshuffle

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has announced a sweeping reshuffle of top-ranking officers within the Ghana Police Service, effective immediately, aimed at strengthening leadership and improving operational performance nationwide.

An official posting issued by the Police Administration confirmed the reassignment of several Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs) to strategic positions at the National Headquarters and across various regions.

Headquarters Leadership Changes

COP Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba has been moved from Director-General of Technology to head the National Arms and Police Department (NAPD).

COP Iddi Lansah Seidu transitions from Director-General of Welfare to Director-General of Technology.

COP Dr Vance Baba Gariba has shifted from Operations to lead the Research and Planning Directorate.

COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe is now Director-General of Operations, having previously headed the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB).

Meanwhile, DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey takes over as Director-General of the PPSB, moving from Research and Planning.

DCOP Eric Ken Winful has been reassigned from the NAPD to serve as Director-General of Welfare.

Regional and Specialized Appointments

DCOP Charles K. Adu has been named Regional Police Commander for the Eastern Region.

DCOP Isaac Asante moves from the Eastern Region to the National Headquarters.

DCOP George B. Ohene Boadi has been appointed Central Regional Commander.

DCOP George Ankomah now heads the Eastern North Region as Regional Commander, transitioning from the Central MTTD/Ashanti Region.

DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo, previously Director of ICT at Police Headquarters, has been appointed Commander of the Central MTTD/Ashanti Region.

The IGP noted that the leadership changes are part of ongoing reforms to strengthen command structures, boost efficiency, and improve service delivery within the Police Service.
