Ghanaians Deserve NPP’s Tested Economic Leadership – Afenyo-Markin
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticised the Mahama administration’s handling of the economy, insisting that Ghana needs the proven and decisive leadership of the NPP to restore growth and public confidence.
The Minority in Parliament has expressed serious concerns over what it describes as poor economic governance under President John Dramani Mahama’s current administration, arguing that Ghanaians are longing for the experienced and results-driven leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Addressing the House during the opening sitting of the second parliamentary session on Tuesday, February 3, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin said the NPP possesses a reliable and proven economic framework, unlike the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which he accused of focusing more on political messaging than practical solutions.
According to him, the nation is in need of strong leadership capable of driving transformation and restoring confidence.
“Ghana is calling for bold, capable and tested leadership. In our assessment, the present government has failed to manage the economy with a vision for transformation, has weakened public confidence, and has not upheld the dignity of the Ghanaian people,” he stated.
Afenyo-Markin maintained that the NPP represents more than just an opposition force, describing the party as the most viable path toward economic recovery.
“The New Patriotic Party is not merely an option — it is the solution Ghana requires. Our record speaks for itself. Under President Kufuor and later President Akufo-Addo, we steered the country toward development until the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global economies.
“Despite the challenges, we returned Ghana to a recovery path. While the NDC relies heavily on public relations tactics, the NPP offers a tested development blueprint. When history reflects on this period, it will recognise who delivered when Ghana needed leadership the most. The solution lies with us,” he added.
