DV Plate Official Cost Fixed at GHS 417.25 as DVLA Tightens Issuance Rules – Julius Kotey
DVLA CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey has clarified that DV plates cost GHS 417.25 and are issued only to registered car dealers and approved garages as part of regulatory controls.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has announced that the approved cost of a DV vehicle registration plate is GHS 417.25.
He explained that the DVLA has introduced new restrictions on the issuance of DV plates, limiting access strictly to registered car dealerships and licensed garages.
According to Mr Kotey, the move is aimed at stopping individuals and middlemen from acquiring DV plates in bulk under the names of garages and reselling them at inflated prices to unsuspecting customers.
He further disclosed that resistance to the new system is largely coming from those who previously benefited from the old arrangements.
“The reason some people are fighting these reforms is because parliamentary approval is being sought to fully implement the new system. The practice where DV plates are acquired in the names of garages and sold at higher prices without our knowledge will soon come to an end,” he stated.
The DVLA CEO emphasised that the reforms are designed to bring transparency, protect vehicle owners from exploitation, and ensure fairness in the vehicle registration process.
