Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana announces 15% reduction in vehicle prices

The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) has announced an average 15% reduction in vehicle prices nationwide, citing the relative stabilisation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar and the removal of the COVID-19 levy.

In a statement issued on February 15, 2026, the Union’s National President, Eric Kwaku Boateng, said the decision fulfils a long-standing commitment to ensure that improvements in the exchange rate translate into fairer prices for consumers.

ADUG had earlier assured the public that any meaningful currency stability would not be exploited for excess profit but would instead benefit buyers through price adjustments.

For months, Ghana’s automobile market experienced significant upward pressure driven by:

  • Exchange rate volatility
  • High import duties
  • Rising shipping costs
  • Global supply chain disruptions

According to the Union, its members have acted in good faith and with a strong sense of national responsibility to revise prices now that the exchange rate environment has improved.

The price review covers a wide segment of the automotive market to ensure broad consumer benefit. The 15% reduction applies to:

  • Brand-new vehicles
  • Hybrid and electric vehicles
  • Home-used (second-hand) vehicles

ADUG reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumer interests while supporting the national economy, and expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for their patience and continued confidence in the organised automobile trade.
