Without Asiedu Nketia I Couldn’t Have Won Ayawaso West Wuogon – John Dumelo

Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has acknowledged the role played by Johnson Asiedu Nketia in helping him win the parliamentary seat during the 2024 elections.

Speaking during a “Thank You Tour” visit by the National Chairman on March 11, Dumelo said Asiedu Nketia was instrumental in mobilising party supporters within the constituency, which contributed to the large victory margin recorded.

According to him, the support helped the National Democratic Congress secure the seat with a margin of about 13,000 votes—something he described as unprecedented in the constituency.

Dumelo expressed confidence that the party could increase its vote margin to between 17,000 and 20,000 in future elections if the needs of grassroots supporters, particularly job opportunities, are addressed.

He stressed that employment for young people in the constituency remains critical to sustaining the party’s political support, noting that many supporters expect opportunities after contributing to the party’s success.

The MP admitted that his capacity to provide jobs is limited, explaining that he can only assist a few individuals despite the large number of people seeking employment.

Dumelo also appealed to party supporters who may feel left out of current opportunities not to lose hope, assuring them that more chances would come in the future.

Meanwhile, Asiedu Nketia said he devoted special attention to the constituency during the campaign partly because of past incidents where party members were reportedly mistreated during a previous by-election. He added that winning the seat by a wide margin was a way to honour those supporters.

He also encouraged young people to take advantage of the ongoing membership registration exercise to officially join the party.
