Rans Logistics Refunds GH¢19.1 Million After Auditor-General Flags Grain Transport Overpayments — Deputy Finance Minister Reveals

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has disclosed that Rans Logistics has refunded GH¢19.1 million to the state after being cited for overpayments related to grain transportation services.

The refund follows findings contained in the arrears report issued by the Auditor-General’s Department (Ghana), which identified a total of GH¢68 billion in outstanding arrears across various government obligations and transactions.

According to Mr. Ampem, the recovery forms part of ongoing government efforts to ensure financial discipline and accountability in public expenditure. He explained that the flagged payments were linked to transport services for grain distribution, where discrepancies were detected during the audit review process.

He emphasized that the successful refund demonstrates the impact of strengthened oversight mechanisms and collaboration between state institutions to safeguard public funds.

The Deputy Minister further indicated that government remains committed to pursuing additional recoveries where irregular payments are identified, stressing that accountability measures outlined in the Auditor-General’s report will continue to guide corrective action.

The development is expected to reinforce confidence in ongoing efforts to address arrears and promote transparency in the management of public resources.
